Okay...sooooo...its been a while. A really, really, REALLY long while, since I've posted. So, let's go ahead, and get this out of the way. A year and a half ago, I FINALLY had surgery on my neck. Unfortunately, I was unable to draw, or do much of anything, for 3 entire months. Within those three months, my laziness grew. And grew. And...well, you see where I'm going with this. Eventually, I just couldn't handle it anymore. So, I picked up my paintbrushes and pens, joined Instagram, and started drawing and painting again. Which has led me back to my blog. Yep, I'm amongst the living once again. I figured I should take baby steps, and Instagram was the way to do it. Now I'm ready to get things started!
As for my neck, I still have numerous appointments to deal with, and yet another surgery that will be coming up sooner, rather than later. However, I actually now look forward to those appointments. Why, you say? Well, let me tell ya....Doctors run late. Doctors ALWAYS run late. And now, instead of throwing a class A temper-tantrum, I occupy myself with drawing. I swear, nothing makes the time spent in waiting rooms go faster, than drawing. The fact that all three of these cups were done while sitting in a waiting room is a true testament to how LONG one is forced to wait at the Doctors office.
The reason behind these cups is simple. I had finished my coffee, read every single magazine in the waiting room, watched HGTV for as long as I could possibly stand, and just as I was about to explode, I found an ink pen in my purse. Thank. God. And so I began drawing. (I added the watercolors to my first cup when I finally made it home.)
As for having to pack up supplies to take with me, well, I don't have to. I just throw everything into a cup, and I'm off. Plus, it gives me an excuse to suck down about 3 Starbucks coffees a week. When I'm done with them, I wash them out, and keep them in my office...until my next appointment.
Okay, my darlings, I must sign off. Again, please accept my apologies. I never should have taken so long to explain my absence. I hope everyone is doing well, and I look forward to catching up. Oh, and if you find yourself on Instagram, feel free to look me up! @dkmccormickart
Love, love, love,
Deirdre
